Dr. Nura Fitnat Topbas Selcuki, MD

OB-GYN & Endometriosis Researcher, Turkey / United Kingdom

Dr. Nura Fitnat Topbas Selcuki is an obstetrician-gynaecologist and researcher whose work bridges clinical endometriosis care in Istanbul with academic research at the University of Oxford. She is an attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Health Sciences Türkiye, Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, and a DPhil researcher in the EndoCaRe Group at Oxford's Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health.

Her academic path has been international from the outset: she completed undergraduate studies in Biological Sciences at Cornell University, graduating magna cum laude, obtained her medical degree from Heidelberg University, and later trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in Türkiye. At Oxford, her research examines the genetic basis of endometriosis and adenomyosis, with a particular focus on improving the ancestral diversity of research populations by incorporating cohorts from Türkiye and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Her published work spans several dimensions of endometriosis, including genetics, oxidative stress, thoracic endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. A recent 2026 study to which she contributed examined clinical patterns and comorbidities in women with chronic pelvic pain — an area closely connected to the challenge of understanding why pain intensity does not always mirror the visible extent of disease. She was selected as a World Endometriosis Society Early Career Ambassador in 2019 and has served as a Senior Ambassador since 2026, while remaining actively involved in the Endometriosis & Adenomyosis Society, Türkiye.
