Dr. Irinel Oancea

Senior Radiologist, Romania

Dr. Irinel Oancea is a senior radiologist with two decades of experience in magnetic resonance imaging and particular expertise in pelvic, abdominal and cardiovascular imaging. She trained in radiology and medical imaging in Bucharest and has worked in major clinical centres including Colțea Hospital and Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Romania, as well as Royal Brompton Hospital in London and Agaplesion Bethanien Hospital in Frankfurt.

Her practice at Phoenix Diagnostic Clinic includes MRI, CT and ultrasound. Pelvic imaging is a central part of her work, and her experience is especially relevant in conditions such as deep endometriosis, where the value of MRI depends not only on the scanner itself, but also on the protocol, patient preparation and the way the examination is interpreted in relation to the clinical question.

Dr. Oancea has also contributed to scientific work in cross-sectional imaging and has participated in professional education on advanced MRI techniques. For patients with suspected complex endometriosis, careful imaging can help define the extent of disease before treatment and give the multidisciplinary team a clearer map for clinical and surgical planning.

At the Summit, she will speak on “What Makes an Endometriosis MRI Different: Protocol, Contrast and Vaginal & Rectal Gel Explained.”
