Dr Alexander Boyadzhiev is a Bulgarian gynaecologist and minimally invasive gynaecologic surgeon with a particular focus on endometriosis, operative gynaecology and fertility-preserving care. He is part of the team at Dr Shterev Medical Complex and its Endometriosis Centre in Sofia, where he works in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients with endometriosis.
He graduated in Medicine from the Medical University of Varna and completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sofia. Dr Boyadzhiev is certified in gynaecological endoscopy through the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE/GESEA) and has undertaken advanced international training in minimally invasive surgery, including gynaecological endoscopy and 3D laparoscopy under Prof. Mario Malzoni in Italy, as well as further training in Belgium and Germany. His clinical interests include laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, endometriosis, fertility preservation and individualised treatment planning.
Alongside his surgical work, Dr Boyadzhiev has a longstanding interest in the medical management of endometriosis. His earlier academic work included a comparison of GnRH agonists and antagonists, addressing their mechanisms, effectiveness and the role of add-back therapy - an area that has since become increasingly important in contemporary endometriosis treatment.
At the Summit, Dr Boyadzhiev will speak on “Beyond Painkillers and Surgery: The Role of GnRH Antagonists and Relugolix Combination Therapy in Endometriosis Care.”
