Prof. Taner Usta, MD

Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Endometriosis Surgery & Minimally Invasive Pelvic Surgery, Turkey

Prof. Taner Usta is an obstetrician-gynaecologist and minimally invasive surgeon whose practice is focused on deep endometriosis, pelvic pain, reproductive surgery and advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and completed his specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in 2004. He currently practises at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital in Istanbul and serves on the board of the Endometriosis & Adenomyosis Society, Türkiye.

His surgical training has included advanced programmes in Spain, France, the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Denmark. Among these are advanced laparoscopy and robotic training at the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis surgery at IRCAD in Strasbourg, AAGL laparoscopic training in Vancouver, advanced retroperitoneal anatomy and pelvic neuro-anatomy at Saint Louis University, and clinical training in chronic pelvic pain at Saint Joseph Hospital in Arizona. He also completed Levels 1 and 2 of the International Society of Neuropelveology programme, including nerve-sparing and decompression techniques.

This combination of endometriosis surgery, pelvic neuro-anatomy and pain medicine shapes his approach to complex disease: not every patient with deep endometriosis needs the same operation, and the decision to operate has to take account of symptoms, anatomy, reproductive plans, surgical risk and the expertise of the team. His published work includes multidisciplinary robotic surgery for deep pelvic endometriosis, and in 2026 he lectured for the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy on parametrial endometriosis and its surgical implications.
