Melisa Kumaş Alan is a dietitian, author and endometriosis advocate based in Istanbul, Türkiye. She graduated from Acıbadem University's Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2017 and began her career in a private hospital, building a strong clinical foundation in medical nutrition therapy.
She has completed advanced training in nutrition counselling through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Dietary Supplements for Healthcare Professionals certification through the Gastroenterology Dietitians Association of Türkiye. She is also a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), enabling her to stay up to date with the latest research in reproductive medicine, endometriosis, and fertility care.
Melisa's professional focus is on endometriosis, preconception, and IVF nutrition. Her passion for this field stems not only from her clinical expertise but also from her own experience of being diagnosed with endometriosis after years of unexplained symptoms. This journey inspired her to dedicate her work to helping women navigate endometriosis and fertility treatment through evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle strategies alongside medical care.
In 2025, she published Part of Me: A Dietitian's Healing Story to Endometriosis, a book combining her personal story with practical, science-based guidance on endometriosis, nutrition, supplementation, the menstrual cycle, and recovery.
At the Summit, Melisa will present “Nutrition and Supplementation Before Endometriosis Surgery: Supporting the Body for Better Recovery,” sharing evidence-based strategies to help optimise nutritional status before surgery and support post-operative recovery, while emphasising that nutrition complements — rather than replaces — medical treatment.
